Located near downtown Berkeley and the Cal campus, museums and beautiful city parks, both Berkeley Rose locations are easily accessible by bike, bus, and rapid public transit (BART: Downtown Berkeley stop). Like the San Francisco Waldorf School and Golden Bridges, Berkeley Rose is an urban school and as such utilizes nearby parks for many of its outdoor periods in kindergarten through grades. The children enjoy their walks, using the time to talk with one another, observe the changes in the seasons, discover their local community, and greet their many neighbors.
Cedar Campus: Nursery through Pre-K: The school is located in the historic-landmark classroom and community building of Christ Church (the school is not associated with the church). It’s in the heart of the beautiful mixed-use neighborhood known as the “Gourmet Ghetto,” and is within walking distance to two of Berkeley’s most treasured and oldest wooded creek-side parks, Live Oak and Codornices. As well, the school is a quick bus ride to Tilden and its treasure of natural wonders, including Little Farm and the Botanical Gardens.
Hillegass Campus: Kindergarten through Grades: Our Hillegass campus is located in the vibrant and dynamic southside of Berkeley known as the Elmwood neighborhood. Here, the campus is minutes from the University of California and is alive with students from around the world. We are lucky to be within two blocks of Willard Park, which our children use on a daily basis.
